Christmas Gifts for Cooks
Anyone having to buy a Christmas gift for a cook this year is in luck, as there are some wonderful
Christmas gifts for Cooks in the shops. From the mundane to the avant garde to the downright luxurious.
I'm not normally in favour of kitchen things as Christmas gifts, but even I would be in raptures to receive some of
these wonderful Christmas gifts for cooks.
There are many lovely gifts for cooks to be had for the small budget.
How about a beautiful pestle and mortar, an essential for any cook – they come in many different materials and can
be had for a little as £10 or £15. There are also some beautiful coffee mugs with various
themes, or you could colour co-ordinate them with your kitchen – another wonderful gift for
cooks. You could make up a gift box of good quality Irish linen tea towels and an
Elizabeth David recipe book, or how about a Chef's candle, some antique wooden spoons and a book on classic
french cooking. Another good idea would be some fancy biscuits in a beautiful tin, there
are loads to choose from and the tin can be used afterwards. You coluld also buy a year's subscription to one
of the many Foodie magazines - cooks are always on the look-out for new recipes and this would delight all year
round.
For the larger budget a lovely gift for cooks would be a marble chopping board, a copper brioche tin or a
Sushi set, complete with chop sticks. How about a really good quality Wok or a Bread or Ice Cream
maker. If you really want to splash out you could buy them a cookery course at one of the exclusive
establishments such as Ballymaloe Cookery School in County Cork, Ireland or at Casa Ombuto in Tuscany. Not
only would the recipient learn to cook fabulous food, but if you're in luck, they will try out some of the new
recipes on you. A plan with no drawbacks!
